To cater to the increasing demands and encouraging load factor from its guests, AirAsia, the world’s best low cost airline will be increasing its frequency to 2x daily from Kuala Lumpur to Brunei beginning 25 August 2010.

To celebrate this additional frequency from Kuala Lumpur to Brunei, AirAsia is offering all-in-fares from as low as RM29* one way for the travel period of 25 August 2010 to 8 May 2011.
AirAsia has agreed to reinstate the Miri-Singapore flight by next week, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan said yesterday

KUCHING: AirAsia has agreed to reinstate the Miri-Singapore flight by next week, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan said yesterday.Dr Chan, who is also Tourism and Heritage Minister, disclosed this after a discussion with AirAsia chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tony Fernandez over the route, which was suspended earlier this month.

“People are used to the route. Employees of oil companies are used to travelling on that flight,” he said during a press conference at Kuching International Airport VIP lounge upon his return from Kuala Lumpur.

“I promised Fernandez that we will do our part in promoting Sarawak to Singaporeans,” he said.

Dr Chan added that he would be embarking on a roadshow to promote Sarawak in Singapore either end of this month or early April.

“On my part, I want to sell Sarawak to Singaporeans and get more people to come.

“People should know about the good tourism products available in Sarawak. We must work on a win-win situation. Tour operators can also help by getting as many people as possible to visit,” he added.

The status of other suspended international routes, like the Kuching-Jakarta flight, remains unchanged.

Dr Chan said Fernandez asked him to speak to Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAB) about offering the low-cost carrier a lower rate for airport charges.

“I hope MAB will be able to help us there, until we build up a volume where the low-cost carrier can absorb a higher cost.”

He said Sarawak tourism was behind when compared to Sabah, Penang and Melaka, and appealed for MAB to reconsider its charges.

From 15 April 2010, AirAsia will add two flights to its Kuala Lumpur to Taipei schedule, increasing its frequency to nine flights per week.

From 15 April 2010, AirAsia will add two flights to its Kuala Lumpur to Taipei schedule, increasing its frequency to nine flights per week. The low-cost carrier has seen an increasing demand from travellers seeking flights to and from Taipei. Recent figures have shown an 80 per cent load factor since the launch of this route on 1 July 2009.

To cater to this overwhelming response, the airline has also introduced direct daily flights to Taipei from Kota Kinabalu in East Malaysia and Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. These new routes bring AirAsia’s total number of weekly flights to and from Taipei to 23, making it even easier for British travellers to tour some of Asia’s most popular destinations.

Josephine Huang, marketing manager of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau (Europe), commented: “We are delighted that AirAsia’s new flights offer the opportunity to introduce even more British travellers to our island. The airline’s new services from Malaysia and Thailand make it possible for visitors to travel to some of Asia’s most impressive destinations at a very reasonable cost. We look forward to welcoming even more tourists to Taiwan in 2010 and beyond.”
